Information Security Specialist (Part-Time, Remote)

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Specialist to join our team on a service contract basis (approx 20 hours per week). This is a 100% remote, part-time role focused on Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) across XData Group and affiliated entities. You will work closely with our ISMS Leader (interim), Legal & Privacy teams, IT Services Administrator, and an external CISO advisor to strengthen and maintain our security posture.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client data.
- Perform security risk assessments and manage the ongoing risk register.
- Collaborate with external security consultants and auditors to ensure ISO 27001 compliance and alignment with other frameworks.
- Lead and coordinate the incident response process, including planning, testing, and notifications.
- Deliver employee security awareness training to foster a strong security culture.
- Partner with teams to integrate security practices into systems, projects, and processes.
- Monitor and review access permissions and security configurations.
- Track and report on key security metrics (e.g., vulnerability scans, compliance status).
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, Security+, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in information security, ideally in small-to-medium businesses or consulting.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, risk management, and related frameworks.
- Familiarity with SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and log management tools.
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex security concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Structured, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Fluent English required.
